What is Daily News Puzzle?

Daily News Puzzle is a word search game with a twist: every word in the grid comes from today's trending news in Ghana. A new puzzle is published each day, giving you a fresh set of words to find and news stories to discover. The game is free to play and works on any device with a web browser.

How to Find Words

Words are hidden inside a grid of letters. To select a word:

Words can run in any of eight directions:

When you correctly select a word, it will light up on the grid and get checked off the word list. If your selection does not match a word, the highlight will disappear and you can try again.

Understanding the Word List

Below the grid, you will see a list of all the words you need to find. Each word is paired with a short context sentence that explains the news story behind it. Use these clues to help you locate words in the grid — if you know the word starts with a particular letter, scan the grid for that letter first.

Words you have already found will appear with a strikethrough and a checkmark. Your goal is to find every word on the list.

The Timer & Leaderboard

A timer starts counting as soon as you begin the puzzle. The faster you find all the words, the higher you rank on the daily leaderboard. Your completion time is displayed at the end of each puzzle alongside other players' times.

The leaderboard resets every day with the new puzzle. To appear on the leaderboard, choose a display name in your profile settings.

Streaks

Your streak counts how many days in a row you have completed the puzzle. The rules are simple:

Streaks are a great motivator to keep coming back every day. Your current streak is shown in the header and on your profile.

Achievements

As you play, you can unlock achievements across four categories:

When you unlock an achievement, a notification pops up during gameplay. You can view all your earned and locked achievements from your profile.

Tips for Beginners

  1. Read the clues first. Scanning the word list and context sentences before diving into the grid gives you a mental map of what to look for.
  2. Start with longer words. Longer words are often easier to spot because they have more distinctive letter patterns.
  3. Scan systematically. Work through the grid row by row or column by column instead of jumping around randomly.
  4. Check all directions. Remember that words can go backwards and diagonally — not just left-to-right.
  5. Play daily. Consistency helps you get faster. Many players see their completion times drop significantly after just a week.
