Frequently Asked Questions

Gameplay

When does a new puzzle come out?

A new puzzle is published every day at midnight UTC (12:00 AM GMT). Since Ghana is on GMT, the puzzle resets at midnight local time.

How many words are in each puzzle?

Each puzzle typically contains between 6 and 10 words, depending on the day's news. The number may vary slightly based on how many trending stories pass our content filter.

What directions can words go?

Words can be placed in any of eight directions: horizontally (left to right or right to left), vertically (top to bottom or bottom to top), and diagonally (in all four diagonal directions). Check our How to Play guide for more details.

Can I replay an old puzzle?

Currently, only today's puzzle is available. Each puzzle is tied to that day's news, so once a new day begins, the previous puzzle is no longer accessible. We may add an archive feature in the future.

Is there a time limit?

There is no time limit — you can take as long as you need to find all the words. However, a timer tracks your completion time so you can see how you stack up against other players on the daily leaderboard.

What happens when I find all the words?

When you find every word, a success screen appears showing your completion time, your streak count, your leaderboard position, and any achievements you unlocked during that session. You can share your results with friends from this screen.

How big is the puzzle grid?

The default grid size is 15 by 15 letters. The grid is designed to be large enough to hide words in multiple directions while still fitting comfortably on a mobile screen.

Account & Streaks

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play as a guest without creating an account. Your game progress, streak, and achievements are saved locally in your browser. However, creating a free account lets you sync your data across devices and ensures your progress is not lost if you clear your browser data.

How do streaks work?

Your streak counts consecutive days you have completed the puzzle. Complete today's puzzle and your streak increases by one. Miss a day and it resets to zero. If you miss a day accidentally, you have a 24-hour grace period to restore your streak with a small payment.

I cleared my browser data and lost my streak. Can I get it back?

If you were playing as a guest, your data was stored only in your browser's localStorage and cannot be recovered once cleared. To prevent this in the future, create a free account to back up your progress to the cloud. If you had an account, simply sign back in and your data will be restored.

How do I appear on the leaderboard?

Set a display name in your profile (tap the user icon in the header). Once you have a name and complete the puzzle, your time will appear on the daily leaderboard alongside other players.

Does it work on mobile?

If the problem persists, contact us at info@organizedkhaosgh.com and let us know your device and browser so we can investigate.

Can I install it as an app?

Yes. On most mobile browsers, you will see an "Add to Home Screen" prompt or you can find the option in your browser's menu. On desktop Chrome, look for the install icon in the address bar. The installed app loads faster and runs in full-screen mode.

News & Content

Where do the puzzle words come from?

Every word is extracted from real, trending news stories in Ghana. We pull headlines from trusted RSS feeds (Citi Newsroom, MyJoyOnline, GhanaWeb), then use an AI model to select relevant names, places, and topics. Each word is paired with a short sentence explaining the news behind it.

Why do I only see positive news?

We intentionally filter out distressing or negative content. Our AI pipeline excludes stories involving violence, disasters, and other upsetting topics. The goal is to keep you informed about what is happening in Ghana while maintaining a positive, uplifting experience. We call this approach "informed but safe."

I noticed a word or context that seems wrong. How can I report it?

While our AI filtering is accurate most of the time, occasional errors can happen. If you spot something that looks incorrect or inappropriate, please email us at info@organizedkhaosgh.com with the date of the puzzle and the word in question. We review all reports and use them to improve our system.
